ACGF– Afghan Credit Guarantee Foundation is a charitable foundation based in Cologne, Germany and an office in Berlin. ACGF was founded in September 2014 by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and DEG – Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (a member of the KFW Group). ACGF is further supported with funds provided by the World Bank via the Afghan Government.

ACGF's mission in the area of Development Finance is to improve access to finance for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Afghanistan by providing credit guarantees and finance related technical assistance to Partner Institutions (PIs) – banks, micro-finance and micro-deposit institutions. ACGF implements its mandate by providing partial credit guarantees to Afghan financial institutions for loans extended to Afghan Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Likewise, ACGF provides comprehensive related technical assistance (TA) to its PIs in order to establish and develop best practice SME lending capacity. ACGF is also in the process to establish a matching grants facility and a start-up facility for businesses in Afghanistan.

ACGF is closely working with its Afghan subsidiary SME Client Support Afghanistan LLC based in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif.

ACGF is part of the LANDT-Network (www.landt-group.com), a group of aligned institutions with headquarters in Berlin. The group consists in total of more than 60 people and is focused on the establishment and management of Credit Guarantee Funds for the promotion of SMEs in developing countries and further consulting activities.

 

We are looking for a (Junior) Officer f/m – Guarantee Transactions in our Transactions Management & Corporate Governance Department for one of our offices in Berlin or Cologne. Travels to Afghanistan are not necessary.

 

Your core tasks will include:

  • Under the supervision of the Department Head, you will take care for the efficient and compliant processing of credit guarantee transactions as well as for the further development and improvement of these processes.
  • You would strive to meet high customer service levels by processing incoming requests efficiently in accordance with the respective policies and procedures.
  • You will facilitate coordination of the credit guarantee processing with our Afghan subsidiary.
  • You will support with the onboarding of new partner institutions.
  • You will support with preparation of business reports and preparation of information for different stakeholders.

 

You should meet the following Requirements:

  • Academic degree preferably in a subject related to the field of business, finance or economics.
  • Permit to work in Germany.
  • Up to 2 years of relevant job experience, ideally in the back or middle office in the banking sector.
  • Background in development finance is appreciated, but not required.
  • Familiarity with environmental and social standards of World Bank/IFC is appreciated, but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and in writing).
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office software.
  • Dedication to detail and diligence.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to follow a structured approach in fulfillment of tasks.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under time pressure.
  • Ability to integrate in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Commitment to and interest in the philosophy and goals of development cooperation.
  • Excellent command of English language. German skills and further languages would be of advantage.
